have national school council conferences
A school council conference would really help all school councils throughout the country speak with one voice and work towards shared aims.

so that all schools know what they should be working towards for a really good school council
InJan 09 we will be launching the School Council Standard which will provide guidelines and suppoprt for schools working towards achieveing a school council of excellence. Keep an eye on our website for more information.

send out regular news alerts and updates
an e-mail with all the latest news and examples of good practice would be really useful

make school councils statutory
I think it should be the law for all schools to have school councils
Following a 3 years research project School Councils UK did recommended that school councils be made statutory, as is the case with Wales. At the moment the Govt has decided against this, although they are supporting our National School Council Standard which will be ready in Sept 08.

expand a little more on the website
The site at the minute is a little plain, a little boring, expanding it more may get more regular members.
